Programme on ‘Menstrual Hygiene & Reproductive Health’ held in Budgam

BUDGAM: The Women Development Cell of Government Degree College Khansahib in collaboration with the NSS unit organized one day counseling cum interactive programme for female students on the theme ‘Menstrual Hygiene & Reproductive Health’ on 16th September 2021.
The key resource persons were Dr. Gazala Ali, senior Gynecologist & Dr. Shamim. In his inaugural address Principal GDC Khansahib Dr. Syed Tanvir Indrabi highlighted the role of healthy women in a society & threw some light on ‘cleanness and hygiene in Islam’.
The first session was moderated by Dr. Sajad Padder, Assistant Professor of Political Science.
In the second session, which was attended only by the female students, the resource persons gave an overview of reproductive health in the country.
They exhorted students to remain sensitive about hygiene and reproductive health and consult doctors immediately in case of any eventuality.
Highlighting the issue of traditional societies and culture in perpetuating menstruation and reproductive myths, Dr. Gazala said: “Cultural practices & taboos around menstruation impact negatively on the lives of women and girls, & reinforce gender inequalities & exclusion”.
