Director Agriculture visits vegetable cluster Narkara Budgam

Srinagar: Under Farmers outreach program Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal visited different areas of vegetable cluster Narkara, District Budgam.
Director Agriculture interacted with some of the farmers and asked for their feedback with respect to different interventions put forward by the department during the present scenario.
Talking to some of the progressive vegetable growers Director Agriculture said that department is working for the promotion of vegetable sector by not only introducing exotic varieties of different crops but also strengthening the organic way of farming in this sector.
On the occasion Director Agriculture instructed the officers for highlighting the remunerative nature of vegetable cultivation and bringing it to forefront so that more areas are brought under vegetable cultivation.
Director Agriculture said that the large scale commercial vegetable cultivation is being done in Narkara, Bugam of district Budgam. The department in collaboration with JKHPMC and NAFED have already takenup a process of multilevel marketing within and outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir so that the farmers could get maximum returns for their produce and their socio economic transformation could be achieved.
Growers and farmers of the Narkara area hailed the endeavor of the department for reaching out to them. They said that these types of initiatives lessens the gap between the department and the farmers.
Later Director Agriculture paid a surprise visit to Seed Multiplication Farm Harran Budgam and inspected various sections of the farm.
