Srinagar: The National Cadet Corps took a decision to resume its training of Cadets, keeping the COVID-19 protocol in view. The first ever NCC camp in the higher reaches of Shamshabari Ridge, in the Kashmir valley, was conducted from 02 Sept to 10 Sept 2021 by the Baramulla based 3 J&K Battalion. The camp was conducted under the aegis of the Group Headquarters, Srinagar and NCC, Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate, located in Jammu.
The location of the camp was chosen to give the cadets of North Kashmir an exposure to the NCC environment. The camp would not have been possible to be conducted, without the support from the Army. The physical conduct of the camp was made possible by the Army formation at Machil which provided the security, infrastructure and administrative assistance. 145 NCC Cadets from Schools and Colleges of Uri, Kupwara, Handwara, Sopore, Pattan, Bandipora, Baramulla and Border Town of Machil participated in the Annual Training Camp. All Covid-19 protocols were strictly followed during the camp. Main objective of this camp was to continue conducting training in North Kashmir, especially in border towns, to unite the youths with the mainstream. Apart from imparting basic training, NCC cadets were selected to represent Kashmir in the JK&L contingent during the Republic Day Camp 2022. During this camp, various activities, including physical training, drill, weapon training etc, were conducted.
