Anti polythene drive launched in Pampore

PAMPORE: A special Polythene cum sanitation drive was on Wednesday kick-started by Director Urban Local bodies Kashmir Mathoora Masoom at Saffron town Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A rally led by Director Urban Local bodies Kashmir Mathoora Masoom along with President MCP Malik Mohammad Yaqoob, Executive Officer Municipal Committee, Mohammad Iqbal, Executive Officer R&B Mushtaq Ahmad , Secretary Municipal Committee, Bashir Ahmad and others.
Around four dozen Safai Karamcharis, employees and Councillors of Municipal Committee Pampore also participated in the drive, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The rally was carried out through banks of river Jhelum , Eidgah and other areas of Pampore during which many heaves of polythene and other garbage was collected and disposed. Later, Director Urban Local Bodies Mathoora Masoom held a meeting with Chairman, Executive Officer and employees of Municipal committee Pampore at Townhall.
She directed them to carry the drive after 15 day every month.
“The aim was to create awareness among people that we are responsible for keeping our river banks, roads and hospital premises clean,” Director Urban local bodies, Mathora Masoom told Kashmir Reader, adding that the awareness was created among people not to litter their town.
She added that the drive to make the town clean and green is possible with participation of people.
” We request people to get involved with the anti-polythene drive and help the municipality committee to make Pampore polythene free, The drive is incomplete without participation of people”, she said.
President MCP Malik Yaqoob told Kashmir Reader that municipal committee Pampore is with the people serving them with utmost dedication.
