Shopian: Body of 21-year-old youth was found at Turkawangam village of Shopian on Wednesday with his family claiming he was murdered by the family of a girl with whom he was in relationship.

He was identified as Shahid Ahmad Ganie son of Manzoor Ahmad of Urpora village in Nagbal area of the district.

Police said that the body was taken by locals to district hospital Pulwama where he was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Family members of the deceased alleged that their son was killed by a member of a family with whose daughter he was in love.

They said that Shahid was called by the girl on Tuesday evening to her home.

A police official told Kashmir Reader that police has registered a case in this regard and investigation has been initiated. “We are getting a post mortem report which will help in the investigation. We also brought some people for questioning, however, no arrests have been made yet,” he said.
