PAMPORE: Revenue authorities under the supervision of Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din removed earth filling from many kanals of Abi Awal land at Paptrag Nambal, Tanchibagh area of Saffron town Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
The field agency of Revenue department Pampore and Agriculture Department has reported Tehsildar Pampore that the earth excavation by some persons from Konibal Pampore is posing threat to saffron land.
The Tehsildar Pampore immediately went into action against the land mafia and lifted earth filling from the Abi Awal land in the Saffron town, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The soil was illegally excavated from saffron fields at Konibal area of the Pampore Tehsil.
Talking to Kashmir Reader Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din said that they will be starting some tough measures against land mafia who excavate soil from saffron fields illegally.
” We are starting a drive against conservation of wetlands by filling them with illegally excavated soil, Today we received information that Abi Awal land is being filled with soil at Paptrag Nambal Tanchibagh, we went to the spot along with earth movers and lifted the soil back, from many kanals of land” Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi ud-Din said, adding that arrested warrants will be issued against the land mafia involved in the offence.
He added that the soil was illegally excavated from saffron fields at Konibal.
“FIR will also be lodged against the owner of the land for selling the soil to the land mafia,” he told Kashmir Reader.
Naib Tehsildar Pampore Mohammad Ameen, Agriculture officer Sabreena Akhtar, Nazir Mir Murawat Hussain, other Revenue , Agriculture officials and Patwaris concerned also accompanied Tehsildar Pampore during the drive against the mafia.
The Tehsildar Pampore warned the land mafia to stay away from illegal excavation of soil.
