KVK Kupwara team reaches out to Keran

SRINAGAR: Carrying forward the mission and vision of the Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K, Prof. J P Sharma for making the KVKs primary institutions of agricultural learning for farmers and taking inspiration from Director Extension a frontline worker Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, a team of scientists of KVK Kupwara and Programme Co ordinator KVK Kupwara Dr. Sajad Mohi-u-din conducted a four day farming, teaching cum interaction tour to the border tehsil Keran of District Kupwara.
During the interaction with farmers, BDC chairman, other PRI members and students , thrust areas were identified where interventions were needed to uplift the farming activity and income of the farmers of the area. As a part of the routine activity and mandate of the KVK, FLD’s on Maize variety (Kg-2) were also monitored by the scientists in various areas of the tehsil including Keran Payeen and Mundiyan villages.
The BDC Chairman, PRI members and farmers of the area hailed the efforts of KVK for reaching out and providing boost to agricultural activities in the far flung area.
A quiz competition was also conducted on the occasion at Govt. Hr. Sec. School Keran and prizes were distributed among top three winners and rest of the participants.
