Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered Psychotropic substance from his possession.
A Police party of PP Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Wadwan Budgam intercepted a vehicle (Chevrolet Spark) bearing registration number JK01L-4385 driven by a person identified as Syed Irfan-ul-Haq son of Late Zia-ud-Din resident of Tengbagh Khayam Srinagar. During checking, officers were able to recover 103 bottles of codeine phosphate from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 244/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
