PAMPORE: ActionAid Association, India distributed 20 oxygen concentrators through the office of the District Commissioner Pulwama.
The oxygen concentrators were distributed by ActionAid Association’s team based in Srinagar for different Public Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in the district, a Association member told Kashmir Reader.
ActionAid Association, India is actively working across India in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization has distributed nearly 6,500 oxygen concentrators to community health centres and public hospitals across more than 170 districts in 16 states of India. We have set up an oxygen plant in a COVID Care Centre in NOIDA and are in the process of setting up another in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, with plans to set up a third oxygen plant in Manipur.
Till the 15th of July 2021 we were also able to help set up 23 COVID Care Centres in various states focusing on remote districts, with little access to quality healthcare.
The oxygen distribution in Pulwama took place in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Altaf Ahmad Khan, Chief Planning Officer Shahnawaz Ahmad Khan and District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Nawshad Ahmad Rather who is also Nodal Officer for NGO coordination. The officials appreciated the effort of ActionAid Association India in helping vulnerable communities cope with the COVID-19 crisis.
ADC Pulwama Altaf Ahmad Khan supervised the distribution of the oxygen concentrators. “Oxygen concentrators are the most important requirement to tackle the probable third wave of COVID-19. I am glad to facilitate the distribution as this will help needy people who can’t afford the costly equipment on their own.”
Nodal Officer for NGO coordination Nawshad Ahmad while receiving the oxygen concentrators shared, “ActionAid Association has a history of excellent work in Kashmir. This is a much-needed effort to combat the COVID-19 crisis in Kashmir. The concentrators which ActionAid Assoociation has donated will help strengthen the medical infrastructure of PHCs and CHCs here in fighting the pandemic.”
The officers interacted with Sheikh Nadiya, Project Officer ActionAid Association, about other areas of work that ActionAid Association is doing in other states and also in Kashmir. Nadiya briefed the team of officers about the work of ActionAid Association in Kashmir.
The officials signed the Right of Use of Assets with ActionAid Association, while the administration assured full support in facilitating future programs of ActionAid Association in Pulwama.
