Director Fisheries inaugurated stocking of Trout seedlings in Tral streams

Tral: Director Fisheries Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat on Saturday inaugurated stocking of Trout seedlings in Tral streams of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The stocking was held in Nargistan and Lam Trout streams in Tral sub division of Pulwama.
The Director was accompanied by the Deputy Director and other officials of the fisheries department.
While Talking to Media Director Fisheries, Bashir Ahmad Bhat said that a day ago stocking was done in Ladder Nallah and today they dispersed fingerlings into Tral streams which are famous for Trout fishing.
“Stocking is a regular activity by which seeds are dispersed in trout streams in the fingerling stage,” he said, adding seedlings of the same size are given to growers and dispersed to various streams because the fingerling stage has a good survival rate.
” Anglers from different parts of the country and foreigners visit here for angling and they take away the fish as a result the streams get exploited, ” he said, adding that stocking of fingerlings into the streams replenishes the trout as the same grows in big fishes by next season.
He said that there are very attractive angling spots in Naristan Tral and the Trout fish has propagated very well in these streams because of which anglers are attracted to this place.
” This year we have permitted more than 150 anglers for fishing spots from the stream,” he said.
