KTMF discusses issues confronting traders with Commissioner Sales Taxes

Srinagar: Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation(KTMF) today called on Commissioner Sales Taxes Showkat Aijaz Bhat here at his office in Srinagar. The delegation was led by its President Mohammad Yaseen Khan. Various issues pertaining to GST and difficulties faced by traders were put forth and discussed with the worthy commissioner.
Khan said, “while drawing the attention of the commissioner on some of the burning issues of GST and its resolution we impressed upon him for speedy redressal as the business fraternity is in deep crisis owing to continuous lockdown since past two years”.
“Other issues which were discussed by the visiting KTMF delegation with the Sales Tax department include removal of technical mistakes and allowing one time amnesty to rectify all the mistakes and further all one time revision of GSTR- 3B filed in the previous financial years. We also asked the officials to treat the payment of tax in the bank as the date of payment to the government. Also the dealers should be given at least 3 to 6 months for clearing the mismatch of the input credit. Amnesty for settlement of unresolved issues in the old tax regime & unnecessary harassment by sales tax personal at Lower Munda”, Khan said.
Moreover, the long pending demand of registered dealers to release their security deposit was resolved on spot. The security amount which was deposited by the traders at the time of obtaining VAT / CST registrations should be rightfully returned to the registered dealers as there is no such provision for GST regime. The commissioner assured the delegation that the said deposit will be released instantly after the traders reach out with application for the said procedure.
The commissioner gave us a patient hearing and appreciated the members and leaders of the business community for their cooperation and assured them that the Government was eager to provide handholding of the distressed business community. He said that the suggestions given by the KTMF delegation would be seriously considered, Khan said.
The other members who were part of the delegation include General Secretary KTMF Bashir Ah Kongposh, Senior Vice President KTMF Manzoor Ahmad Bhat , Khursheed Ah Shah, M Aslam Mattoo, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Ashfaq Ahmad Mahajan, Showkat Ahmad Masoodi from North Kashmir, Riyaz Ah Mantoo aand Mohd Altaf from South Kashmir, Nazir & Gh Hassan Parra from Central Kashmir.
