‘Dispose JJB cases fast, enroll those eligible for scholarship’

ANANTNAG Mission Director ICPS and Women Empowerment, Shabnum Shah Kamili on Monday directed for fast disposal of cases taken adding that the future of children is directly linked to the progress on these cases.
She also called for weeding out of ineligible cases in Sponsorship Schemes and directed for enrollment of pending eligible cases in a time bound manner.
Kamili who was on visit to Anantnag chaired a meeting of officials of ICDS, Social Welfare, ICPS and Women Welfare here.
The meeting was attended by DPO Peerzada Zahoor, DCPO/ DSWO, Dr. Peerzada Farhat and officials of ICDS, District Child Protection Unit, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, One Stop Centre for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, Child Line and other concerned.
Through detailed Power Point Presentations, the officials of respective units of ICPS and Women Empowerment apprised the chair about the achievements made so far by the respective units besides the issues being faced by them.
Dr. Farhat informed the chair that seventeen (17) covid affected/ infected child beneficiaries besides thirty four (34) beneficiaries under SASCM (SAKSHAM) have been respectively identified for rehabilitation and scholarship benefits in the district. Besides, two Covid Care Institutes for children have been earmarked at MFM Bon Dialgam and Vessu for girls and boys respectively, he added.
Threadbare discussions were held to work out ways and modalities for smooth implementation of child protection and women empowerment schemes in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mission Director said result oriented approach is important for achieving on ground and realistic progress on child protection and women empowerment.
Hailing the role of officials for making progress on women and child welfare in the district, she enjoined upon them to work in consonance with the guidelines so that better outcomes are delivered.
The MD exhorted for generating massive awareness regarding active schemes especially in far flung areas besides prompt psychological, legal, medical and counselling support to the vulnerable/ affected women and children.
Kamili emphasized the need for effective coordination among converging departments like Police, Health, Social Welfare and Law to ensure emergency response and rescue services to the women and children in distress.
Impressing upon the stakeholders to work in synergy, the Mission Director assured every possible assistance for making all units effective, robust and vibrant.
Stressing on the importance of BBBP, Social Welfare, RDD, Agriculture, Industries and ITI schemes, she said that women empowerment has to be perceived through outcomes like education, skill development, income generation & employability of women besides other deliverable parameters.
Regarding Child Covid Care, the MD passed directions to the concerned to implement the latest Govt/ expert guidelines on the subject in letter and spirit.
Later, the MD visited OSC, MSK, site for proposed child protection home and MFM Bon Dialgam, where she interacted with the beneficiaries and also took onspot assessment of the functioning of these offices.
