PDD employees stage protest in Pulwama, demand pending salary

PULWAMA: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department employees circle Pulwama staged a protest in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday , demanding release of pending salaries of the past one Month.
The employees said that the Pay and Accounts Officer retired on 31st of May of 2021 but did not sign the salary bills and the salary remains unpaid for the month of May.
“ Since no new PAO has joined the corporation, the employees are crying for salaries and it seems that the salary for the month of June too might remain unpaid,” Abdul Rehman Konbali, Chairman electric employees Union told Kashmir Reader, pleading finance department for appointing accounts officer (PAO) so that they don’t suffer any more.
He said that due to nonpayment of salaries they face a lot of hardships in the prevailing pandemic.
He also demanded regularisation of PDL and TDL employees who have been promised the same.
He said all the assurances made have not materialised yet.
He also demanded convening of DPC so that different vacancies in the department could be filled.
Circle President of the Electrical Employees Union Pulwama Syed Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din said that they held a peaceful protest demonstration keeping in view protocols on COVID.
” From 24 of last month we were not paid salary because PAO, who is the drawing and disbursing officer, has not joined,” he said, asking authorities for issuing permanent orders in favour of PDL employees.
