Deputy Registrar Bla reviews functioning of Cooperative Societies

BARAMULLA: The Deputy Registrar Cooperative Department Baramulla, Ghulam Muhidin Kulay today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning and status of various Cooperative societies registered in the district.
The meeting also took a brief appraisal of the progress of Supermarket Baramulla and other related commercial activities.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion was held wherein the Deputy Registrar thoroughly reviewed the related aspects which include progress of Cooperative societies registered in agriculture, dairy, poultry, transport and other related sectors.
It was informed that 93 Cooperative societies with 70 societies are registered in the district and among these Tangmarg Transport Society Ltd has recorded a business turnover of Rs 1748.50 lakh during 2020-21 financial year.
After taking the review, the Deputy Registrar emphasized for bringing vibrancy in the Cooperative movement and widen its scope so that more and more people are covered in its ambit. He also directed to devise a suitable plan for reviving the defunct societies and scale up activities for disseminating awareness at grass roots level adding that the Cooperative department has a lot of scope of employment generation.
Meanwhile, members of several Cooperative societies highlighted their issues and grievances and sought intervention of higher authorities for sorting out the issues in a time bound manner.
Meeting was attended by the officers/officials of the Cooperative department, members of several Cooperative societies and other concerned stakeholders.
