Forces lay CASO in Shopian villages

Shopian: Government forces carried out a cordon and search operation in three different villages of south Kashmir’s Shopian on Tuesday.
The first CASO was started at Khasipora village of the district by a joint team of government forces including 34 Rashtriya Rifles of army, 178th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force and Police in the village where several houses were searched. However, nothing was found during the search operation.
Similarly another cordon and search operation was launched at Mohanpora and adjacent localities by 44 Rashtriya Rifles of army, 178th battalion of central reserve police force and police. Locals said that several residential houses and other structures were searched by forces but nothing ‘untoward’ was found in the area after which the operation was called off.
The third CASO in the day was launched at Bongam area of Shopian town. Locals said that several houses were searched by the joint team of government forces including 44 Rashtriya Rifles of army, 14th battalion of centre reserve police force and Police and the operation was concluded by 6 pm.
They said that traffic on Shopian-Srinagar (national highway 444) road was diverted to the Batpora bypass.
