Environmental week celebration concludes at GDC Pattan

SRINAGAR: Department of Environmental Science in Collaboration with NSS Units and IQAC of GDCPattan observed a week long Program on eve of Environmental Week beginning from 5th June 2021, the International World Environment Day. The programme focussed on “Ecosystem Restoration” the theme for this year as proposed by the United Nations Organization. The week began with Inaugural note of Prof. Sajad Sarwar, NSS officer Unit I, followed by Special Address of the Principal GDC Pattan, Prof. (Dr) Ghulam Jeelani Quereshi. Dr. Asiya Nazir, Head, Department of Environmental Science, acquainted the Students with the theme “Ecosystem Restoration ” via powerpoint point presentation highlighting the importance and practices to be followed to achieve the success in restoring the degraded ecosystems. The other events that were conducted during the week were Panel Discussion by Students, Inter College poster/ collage Designing and Slogan writing Competition, presentation of poems and speeches by students on “Islamic Perspective of Environmental Conservation ”. The program concluded on 10thof June, with the declaration of results of the events and presentation of formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Imtiyaz Gul, Staff Secretary and Convenor IQAC, GDC Pattan. More than 200 Students participated successfully in Environmental Week Celebration which was conducted via virtual mode.
