Srinagar: Director Law Enforcement Agriculture Production department J&K B. K Chandan today convened a meeting of law enforcement officers of all districts of JK to review the overall working of law enforcement agency through virtual mode.
Speaking on the occasion Director Law enforcement said that the prime objective of the enforcement wing of the department is to ensure that quality fertilizers and pesticides are made available to the farmers through proper sale outlets well in time. Every effort must be put in so that farmers interests are served at all the levels of administration he said and added
He impressed upon the Officers and Officials of the law enforcement agency of the Agriculture Department to remain in close coordination at district and divisional level to bring transparency and accountability in the system to ensure smooth distribution of quality pesticides, fertilizers and seeds to the growers and farmers. Our activities and instructions should be in consonance with the different provisions of Insecticides Act 1968 and Fertilizer Control Order 1985 he said.
Chandan asked the officers to take strict action against the retailers if found selling fertilizers or pesticides without following the proper procedure and any substandard material if found should be immediately seized and the warranted action against the defaulter should be initiated. Any dealer or retailer found guilty of violating different provisions of the law his licence should be cancelled with immediate effect.
Director impressed upon the enforcement officers to carry out special drives/inspections across the Union Territory to ensure regulation of standard and genuine supplies of insecticides/ fertilizers to the farming community.
Earlier Law Enforcement Officers of Kashmir Division appraised Director regarding various activities being carried out on ground which include special inspections, sampling, prosecutions launched, status of sale stock/ seizures and other conterventions. They assured Director that every possible step is being taken for providing quality agri inputs to the farming community.
The meeting was attended by Plant Protection Officer Kashmir Zaffer Ahmad Hakeem, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Kashmir Sheikh Imran, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Jammu Roshan Bhagat, officers of Horticulture Department Jammu, District Law Enforcement officers through virtual mode.
