Kupwara: Police on Saturday claimed that they foiled a smuggling bid of weapons in frontier district Kupwara and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition.

They said that on specific input, Kupwara police along with 2 JAT regiment of the army launched an operation in Jabdi village of Karnah sector in Kupwara district and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles, its six magazines, and 4 pistols with 9 magazines from the suspected spot and further search operation is going on.

Police sources said that it was an old hideout in a forest area and most of the weapons were rusted.
