Visits KVK Pulwama, calls for seamless dissemination of agri-technologies

SRINAGAR: Vice-chancellor SKUAST J&K Prof. J. P. Sharma along with Director Extension Prof. D. M. Maqdoomi, Director Research Prof. Sarfarz Ahmad and associate Directors visited KVK/ETC Pulwama on the sidelines of the Advanced Research Station for Saffron and Seed Spices today on 19th may 2021.
At the outset Director Extension Prof. D. M. Maqdoomi gave an overview of the entire KVK campus and apprised Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of available land, resources, infrastructure and manpower. He stressed on the need to upscale extension activities to reach out to the farming community through the available plate forms, in these tough times.
Vice Chancellor Prof. J. P. Sharma in his address highlighted the need to explore available infrastructure and manpower for seamless dissemination of agri-technologies to the farmers’ door step. To meet this challenge the Vice Chancellor desired that KVK should develop a harmonious relation with other Govt. departments having widespread presence especially in rural areas. He emphasized the need to prepare a document on agri innovations of the university and innovations led by farmers and directed the KVK to prepare honour boards of such farmers for its wide publicity through all possible means. He was impressed on the need to employ various non input based methods to measure the happiness index of farmers so that the level of farm distress can be gauzed for developing ways to console farmers.
The Vice Chancellor lauded the efforts of the entire KVK staff in promoting the upkeep of the Kendra and its demonstration units and appreciated the efforts in making the campus attractive even during these tough times.
