108 Ambulance a boon for JK people

SRINAGAR: Proving a boon to the people of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh during COVID -19 pandemic lockdown & Unlock phase, the 108 Jammu & Kashmir Emergency Medical Services transported a total of 8345 COVID -19 Suspected/Positive patients in Union Territories.
As per the details for the period 24th March 2020 till 14th April 2021, shared by BVG India Ltd, the service provider company for 108 emergency ambulance in J&K and Ladakh, Jammu division contributes to 60 percent followed by Kashmir division contributes to 38 percent and Ladakh to 2 percent of the total COVID -19 related emergences handled by 108 ambulances.
The maximum cases (23 percent) were handled in Jammu district, followed by Rajouri (18 percent) and Srinagar (13 percent). Out of all the COVID – 19 related cases 69 percent were that of males and 31 percent of females. Also if we look at the contribution to these cases w.r.t to age group, a total of 4 percent are of the age group of 0 to 18 years, 49 percent are of the age group of 19 to 44 years and 47 percent are of the age group of 45 and above.
Much to the relief of pregnant women the 108 ambulance staff also assisted a total of 279 deliveries during COVID – 19 pandemic, maximum of them in Udhampur district (55 deliveries) followed by Doda & Kathua (33 deliveries each).
A total of 59,694 patients including COVID patients have been successfully provided the 108 ambulance services across the U.T of J&K and Ladakh since inception.
“We are thankful to the UT administration, The National Health Mission, The Directorate of Health Services and the Chief Medical Officers for the help. The 108 ambulance staff has done a good work in the pandemic”, said Mr. Vikrant Gusain, Project Head of BVG India Ltd, Jammu & Kashmir.
The people of the Union Territories are requested to avail the services of 108 ambulances in case of any medical emergency. These services are provided to the people free of cost and are available 24X7X365 days.
