SKUAST-K Scientists mourn demise of former VC

Srinagar: SK Agriculture University Scientists & Teachers Association (SSTA) has expressed its condolences on the demise of Prof M.Y Kamal, a former Vice-Chancellor of the university. Prof Kamal breathed his last on Saturday morning after a brief illness at a hospital in Gurugram.
“We respectfully recall his contribution as Vice-Chancellor in upliftment and development of SKUAST-K, establishment of fisheries faculty, creation of various posts, creating a conducive atmosphere for quality research, extension and academics in the Varsity”, SKUAST-K scientist fraternity said in a statement.
“We pray for eternal peace to the noble deceased soul and patience for the bereaved family”, it said.
Prof Kamal has earned Ph.D from AMU in fisheries discipline and served as ADG Island Fisheries, ICAR for more than 10 years, remained Member on Board of Management of SKUAST-K for many years before joining SKUAST-K as Vice Chancellor in 1998 till 2003.
“He was a noble soul and his contribution as V.C, SKUAST-K is unparalleled”, President SSTA, Prof S.A. Dar said.
Spokesperson of the Association, Dr Parvaiz Reshi telephonically spoke to the daughter of Late Prof M.Y Kamal, Aisha Khan to convey the heartfelt condolences and sympathies from the scientist fraternity.
