Authorities seek help to identify a mentally challenged person who died of covid

PAMPORE: Five persons died from COVID-19 in Pulwama district on Friday. The deceased include two females from Khrew Shaar, another from Finglish Tral, a male from Darnari and another male Babhara Pulwama.
Another person who is yet to be identified also lost battle against COVID-19, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Health Officials told Kashmir Reader that the woman from Khrew Shaar, Pampore was dead on arrival and her RTPCR returned positive for COVID-19. The other deceased were admitted in the COVID designated hospital in Pulwama on different dates in the last week. The deceased also included a mentally unsound person who was referred from Pampore to the hospital.
Officials were unable to identify the said person.
His body has been kept at the Mortuary in Sub District Hospital Pampore.
Tehsildar Pampore, Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din told Kashmir Reader that the mentally challenged beggar, with no identity proof, got himself sampled at SDH Pampore last month and tested positive for COVID. Tehsildar said he was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama Isolation Facility, where he developed complications.
Today, he sadly succumbed to the disease. We have kept his body at Sub District Hospital Pampore Mortuary. If anybody knows him, please contact us on 7006957548 up to 4 pm tomorrow(08/05/2021) so that his body can be handed over to his legal heirs/relatives.” he said, adding that burial as per SOPs shall be given in case no claim is received.
