Police arrests a drug peddler in Kulgam, contraband recovered

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
Under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund and SHO PS Qazigund, officers from Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established near FCI Mirbazar intercepted a vehicle (Wagon-R) bearing registration number JK13D-7482 with one person on board. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh son of Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh resident of Naina, Pulwama. During checking, officers were able to recover 10.5Kg of poppy straw and 200gms of Charas from the said vehicle. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 80/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
