World Veterinary Day: SKUAST FVScAH celebrates day at Shuhama Campus

SRINAGAR: SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology on Saturday World Veterinary Day 2021 at its Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandary Shuhama.
The day was celebrated with professionals in the veterinary field expressing their commitment to serving the community through livestock sector and a larger public health through inter sectoral cooperation.
The day is widely observed annually on the last Saturday of April, every year across the world, with this year the theme chosen ‘The Veterinarian Response to the Covid-19 Crisis’; keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic situation that took a toll on animal welfare as well.
A good number of activities ranging from farmer scientist interactions, animal health camps, students competitions, theme related Webinars etc were organized as part of the event.
In today’s event, Prof Pampori, event Chairman, presented the theme related talk in which he highlighted the contribution of Vets in containing the ongoing pandemic.
Later Prof M A Paul, Dean Veterinary Faculty highlighted the importance of the event and urged the scientists for taking translational research for optimizing one health.
Prof N A Ganai, Director Planning SKUAST Kashmir and the Chief Guest for the occasion, lauded the varsity Scientists for their contributions. He also stressed on applied research, quality human resource development and effective public outreach.
