DC Ramban urges Railway authorities to engage local youth

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today conducted a virtual meeting with Railway authorities to resolve issues hindering the ongoing work on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) besides taking stock of the progress on the prestigious Project.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal, who is also the Collector, Land Acquisition (Railway); Dy. Chief Engineer Northern Railway, Hussain Khan; Chief General Manager IRCON Railway, S. Moray; Executive Engineer, MS Khosla; besides other senior officers from Railway and Civil Administration attended the meeting.
The DC resolved most of the issues and bottlenecks highlighted by the Chief General Manager, Railways and Executive Engineer by passing necessary directions to the concerned officers. He also reviewed location-wise issues of land acquisitions. The Collector (Railway) informed that 25 structures have been removed and rest 6 shall be removed within a few days. He further informed that 95 kanal acquired land has also been handed over to the Railway at Sumber station yard.
While directing concerned officers for expediting the pace of work, the DC also impressed upon them to adhere to SOPs to contain the spread of Covid infection.
The DC assured Railway authorities of full support from the District Administration to achieve the targets in the completion of the prestigious USBRL Project, which will connect Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.
In light of the direction passed by the Lt Governor during his recent visit to Ramban, he urged the Railways, IRCON and other construction companies to engage local youth in National projects and train them in different skills related to construction engineering, which shall enhance their chances of employability.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the participants that in order to resolve the issues for hassle-free construction, the District Administration will continue to hold periodic virtual meets.
