Dir Agri visits seed facility Shopian

Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal visited fodder Seed Multiplication Farm Methwani Shopian. After reaching the farm which is located in a remotely far flung area of district Shopian Director Agriculture visited different blocks of the farm and got first hand information about the different technological interventions adopted to increase the production and productivity of the farm.
During the visit a meeting of the concerned staff and the technical experts was also conducted by the director wherein he appreciated the staff for working with such a commitment in this far flung area. Director Agriculture said that the fodder production has a great potential in the valley. He said all the necessary steps should be put in place to make the optimum utilization of Methwani farm and other departmental farms to achieve self-sufficiency in seed production.
Director Agriculture asked the technical experts of the farm to introduce innovative techniques of crop production and fodder varieties of economic significance. He highlighted the importance of modern day fodder crops and awareness in the local farming communities.
Earlier the Farm Manager Shakeel Ahmad Bhat gave a brief presentation of different sections of farm and the Agricultural activities being carried out under the strict supervision of technical experts in the farm. Director was accompanied by Assistant Agrostologist Mujtaba Yahya and other senior officers of the department.
