Tehsil office Pampore in Collaboration with Eco-Watch hold Cleanliness drive in Pampore Saffron fields

PAMPORE: Tehsil Office Pampore in collaboration with Eco-Watch Kashmir, an organisation headed by Nadeem Qadri, an environmentalist, took the initiative to lift garbage from Saffron fields at Saffron town Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
The drive was led by Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din (KAS) , Environmental Lawyer and CEO, Jammu and Kashmir Eco-Watch Nadeem Qadri and Volunteers of Pampore Eco-Watch.
The organisers said that the garbage was thrown by residents without concern for Saffron land.
Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din (KAS) told Kashmir Reader that It was very unfortunate that people were dumping garbage in beautiful Saffron fields.
“We are very thankful to Nadeem Qadri who provided machinery and logistics to lift this garbage which we are going to dump at the Municipal Committee dumping site,” he said, adding that the drive was a symbolic one as they cannot clean all the Saffron land.
He told Kashmir Reader that they wanted to give a message to the residents that Saffron was their brand and they needed to protect it and not litter in the saffron fields.
“We have dustbins at our homes. We must accumulate the garbage in a pit or dump it at the dumping sites,” he said, again thanking CEO Eco-Watch Kashmir Nadeem Qadri for his support.
He conveyed to the people that they must keep their Saffron fields clean.
