Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket tournament: Omais’s ton guides GDC Anantnag into semis

SRINAGAR: Degree College Anantnag defeated Degree College Bijebehara comprehensively by a margin 9 wickets in last quarterfinals of the Prof Yousuf Memorial Cricket tourney on Friday at Islamia College of Science and Commerce. After winning the toss Bijebehara captain decided to bat first and the team scored 146 runs in allotted 25 overs.
Shahid Mir with 35 and Yawar Khan with 18 runs were prominent scorers for them. Shahid Khursheed was the destroyer with the ball taking six wickets in his five overs spell for Anantnag team.
Chasing a target of 147 runs Anantnag opening batsman Omais Mohi ud Din smashed 48 ball 102 to overhaul the target in 12.2 overs with Wahid Teli contributing 27 runs in the quick and successful chase.
Omais Mohi ud Din and Shahid Khursheed of GDC Anantnag shared the Man of the match honours jointly. On Saturday host Islamia College will play against GDC Pulwama in the first semi-final and GDC Baramulla will clash with GDC Anantnag in the second semi-final on Sunday.
The tournament is organized by department of physical education Islamia College in memory of ex principal of the college Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
