BGSBU organises lecture on ‘Psychological Perspectives on Religion’

SRINAGAR: Department of Islamic Studies, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri hosted an online lecture on “Psychological Perspectives on Religion” in the Departmental Seminar Hall on Tuesday. Prof. Akbar Masood,Vice Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University lauded the efforts of the Department of Islamic studies for organizing the lecture. In his message, Prof. Akbar said that every religion teaches us to live with peace and harmony and to practice humanity.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Asma Nabi, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Kashmir. Dr. Asma spoke at length on psychological perspectives of religion beginning from Sigmund Freud to Carl Jung to Victor Frankl. She talked meticulously about evolutionary psychology and the recent trends in the psychology of religion. She also juxtaposed the findings of psychology with world’s major religions, especially Islam. The guest speaker was asked several questions which she answered in her best capacity. Prof. G M Malik ,Dean School of Islamic Studies presented his views on the occasion and lauded the speaker for her comprehensive and well articulated lecture. Dr. Naseem Gul , Coordinator Department of Islamic Studies offered the welcome address. Dr. Ashraf Amin, Assistant professor, Department of Islamic Studies, BGSBU offered vote of thanks .Faculty members, research scholars, students from BGSBU and other Universities and Colleges of Jammu & Kashmir participated in the lecture through online mode.
