Kupwara: The police in Kupwara claimed on Monday to have recovered large quantities of arms and ammunition in Karnah Tehsil of north Kashmir’s frontier district Kupwara on Sunday late evening.
A police official said that following specific information, a search operation was launched in village Dhani in Karnah Tehsil by Jammu and Kashmir Police and army, during which a large quantity of arms and ammunition including 5 AK-47 rifles, 6 AK Magazines, 7 Pistols with Magazines and other arms and ammunition including some cash was seized from a hideout.
Police said that a case FIR 19/2021 under section 7/25 Arms Act has been registered.
Police sources said that some suspected people were taken into custody and further investigation is on.
The officials said that a large quantity of ammunition and drugs was seized in this remote area earlier this year.
