Srinagar: The J&K State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Srinagar, and the J&K State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in collaboration with a local NGO organised a one-day Community Disaster Preparedness Awareness programme at Haji Safdar Complex, Yusufabad Bemina, on Saturday in which more than 60 volunteers from the community participated.
The volunteers were imparted training in handling various disaster situations including floods, fire, and road accidents. They were also given practical sessions on emergency rescue methods, bandages, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Choking, Types of fires, use of fire extinguishers, and later a mock drill was also held on search and rescue in which the volunteers actively participated.
The team from SDRF consisted of Riyaz Ahmad, Ajaz Ahmad, Latif Ahmad, Sameer Ahmad, Tariq Ahmad, Farooq Ahmad, Mushtaq Ahmad, Manzoor Ahmad. Those present on the occasion included Aamir Ali, Nodal Officer SEOC, and Molvi Ghulam Hussain Mattoo, a well-known religious scholar.
