Ten sheep killed in two separate incidents by black bear in Kupwara village

Baramulla: At least ten sheep were killed by black bears in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.
Local people of village Bandi Monabal of Kupwara said that a black bear entered into the shed of Mohammad Ismail Barah and killed six sheep on spot while injuring several others, they said that black bear also entered into the shed of another local and killed at least four sheep while injuring several others.
They said that at least three black bears are roaming in their locality from past several weeks and they create a panic among the locals, the need of the hour is to catch or kill these beasts, otherwise they will take precious lives anytime, they added.
An official of the wildlife department said that they will install a cage in the area and hope they will catch these beasts soon.
This is the third such incident in Kupwara and Baramulla where black bears killed sheep flocks of domestic animals.
