BARAMULLA: In broad daylight, unknown gunmen on Friday looted cash from a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Grameen bank in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials said that, a pistol borne person barged to the branch of Grameen bank in the Ogmuna area of Kunzar Tangmarg Friday afternoon when most of the employees had left the office for the Friday prayers. At the time of the incident, only a few employees were present inside the bank branch.
They said a person covering his face with a mask and a pistol in his hand barged inside the bank. He fired at least one round of bullets into the air before stealing the cash at the counter and fled away. Sources said that another person was outside of the bank providing security cover to the executor.
Soon after information, teams of police reached the spot and launched a hunt to trace the gunmen. Officials said that gunman looted cash around two lakh twenty four thousand from the cash counter.
The search was on till last reports came in.
