Seminar organised at GDC Pampore

Pampore: International Women’s Day was observed at Government Degree College Pampore under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Chairman Legal Services Committee Pampore.
A joint awareness programme was organized on Monday by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pampore, ELFA International and Government Degree College Pampore to commemorate
“International Women’s Day” at the Saffron town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The function was held at GDC Pampore in Tulbagh area of the town, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The theme of the programme was“Women in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in Covid 19 World”. Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer was chief guest on the occasion.
Khurshid-Ul-Islam, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Pulwama and Nusrat Ali Hakak, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pampore (Munsiff/JMIC Pampore) were guest of honours.
The programme was also attended by Yasmin Salma, Counsellor from
Belgium, Nighat Amaan, Superintendent of Police (SP Security), Professor Alam Ara Shah, Coordinator WSC, Tehsildar Pampore Ishtiyaq Mohi-ud-Din and paralegal volunteers.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer spoke on women’s rights and empowerment.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that International Women’s Day is meant to celebrate the great achievements of women and contributions they have made .
Chairperson TLSC Pampore,Nusrat Ali Hakak spoke on Women’s Rights under various laws.
Superintendent Police Security Nighat Amaan told the media that adding inequalities still persist in many families and until women don’t come forward and speak up against this social evil it will happen. We need to talk about it and resist it then only things can change,” she said.
Principal GDC Pampore, Professor Sema Nazz said, adding that education is the best tool to empower women.
