HC seeks govt report on functioning of Dal Lake committees

Srinagar: The J&K High Court on Thursday sought a report from the government on the functioning of Monitoring and Scientific and Vigilance Committees constituted for preservation of Dal Lake.
The court took note of submissions made hy Amicus Curiae in the matter, Z A Shah, that the court needs to analyse the functioning of the Committees for effective improvement in conservation of the lake.
Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey said, “We deem it proper to seek response from the government of Jammu and Kashmir on the issue.”
The court directed the senior counsel Z A Shah who will be assisted by counsels Salih Pirzada and Syed Musaib to give in writing the suggestions.
“For preparation of the analysis, the Registry is directed to provide all the requisitioned material to the Amicus Curiae, comprising reports of the earlier Monitoring and Scientific Committee, Court orders and reports of the Legal Expert Committee,” the Bench directed.
The court said that the requisitioned material should be provided to Shah within one week.
“Thereafter, Z A Shah, Amicus Curiae, shall submit the details within two weeks with a copy in advance to the government, which shall submit the response within one week thereafter,” the court directed.
The court will again hear the matter on April 5.
