3 drug peddlers arrested in Pampore, poppy straw, cash seized

Pampore: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 10 Kgs of Poppy Straw in Saffron town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Police have also seized Rs 22,000 cash from the trio, a police officer said.
Continuing its drive against the Drug peddlers and its propagators, Pampore arrested three drug peddlers from the Pampore area.
As per police officer, acting on specific information district police Awantipora placed a special checking point at Gallander crossing Pampore and arrested three drug peddlers.
The arrested trio drug peddlers have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Masoodi son of Nizam-ud-Din Masoodi, resident of Bagandar Pampore, Amir Hamid Lone son of Abdul Hamid and Owaise Gul son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat , both residents of Drangbal Pampore.
10 Kgs of contraband substance Poppy Straw and Cash amount of rupees twenty two thousand was recovered from the possession of arrested persons boarding in the vehicle.
A vehicle SX4 bearing registration number JK01L-2960 used in the commission of the said crime has also been seized.
During on spot questioning of the arrested trio admitted that the seized money pertains to the proceeds of the narcotic substances, police officer told Kashmir Reader.
The operation was led by SHO Pampore Mohammad Younis Khan under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Mir Imtiyaz Ahmad and SSP Awantipora Tahir Saleem.
A Case FIR Number 18/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS law stands registered at Police Station Pampore. Further investigation underway.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
