Handicrafts Department organises awareness cum registration programme for artisans at Awantipora

Pampore: Handicrafts Department Kashmir organised a one day awareness cum registration camp for artisans and weavers in Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
The awareness programme was organised by Assistant Director Handicrafts Department Pulwama at townhall Awantipora in which a large number of artisans and weavers took part, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The main objective of the camp was to make artisans and weavers aware about various welfare schemes of J and K government.
Tehsildar Awantipora, Mohammad Maqbool was chief guest on the occasion. He highlighted benefits various government schemes and urged the concerned community to take maximum benefit from the schemes.
Assistant Director Handicraft department Pulwama Qadeer Ahmad and other officers and officials of Handicrafts department were present on the occasion.
Talking to media Qadeer Ahmad said that artisan suffered most during pandemic of COVID-19.
“Government has designed many welfare schemes for artisans, One such scheme is credit card scheme under which they get a loan of rupees 2 lakh,” he said, adding that this camp was organised
for providing them awareness about these schemes and to register them for these schemes.
