Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K orginises short course for pesticide dealers, distributes certificates

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Extension SK University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Kashmir , Shalimar held a certificate distribution along with inaugural ceremony of short term certificate course of new batch of pesticide dealers/distributors here.
SKUAST- K has been organizing the said training programme in multiple batches. So far the training has been extended to 30 batches and 8 fresh batches have registered for the training. Pesticide dealers from all over the valley were present on this occasion. The occasion was chaired by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K and was attended by other officers of the university, Professors of Directorate of extension and various divisions, Heads of KVKs and other Scientists. Extension welcomed the dignitaries and the participants about the training programme. Prof Nazir Ahmad, Director Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-K while addressing the house enlightened about the contribution of apple industries of Kashmir to the national economy and global scenario of the industries and stressed upon improving the productivity for achieving the optimum yield.
B.K.Chandan Director Law Enforcement Jammu and Kashmir Guest of honour in his speech to pesticide dealers/distributor aware regarding different levels of pesticides viz: green, blue, yellow and red and stress that we should strict to green level only and maintain the standard regulation for their use.
The chief guest in his inaugural speech stressed about the optimal use of pesticide as per the recommended dose while managing the wastage and environmental contamination. He further insisted the pesticide dealers as well as extension functionaries of the horticulture department to practice the safe handling , ensuring and enforcing minimum withdrawal period for over all safety of animal and human health. He also stressed that management of orchard like orchard sanitation a very important to control the various disease without use of pesticides and it also help to improve the socio-economic profile of farmers.
He also congratulated the Directorate of Extension in general and Dr. Farahnaz Rasool, Deputy Director-Trainings and her team for their efforts in serving the society .He also distributed the certificates to the representatives from batch 23 to 30. The session was moderated by Dr Purshottam Singh, Associate professor Agronomy. Prof.Masood Saleem Mir Associate Director (Animal Science) presented the vote of thanks.
