Welcome to Covid-19 ‘vacinaion’ in Shopian ‘dictrict’

Shopian: The health department in Shopian has found itself in an embarrassing situation after misspelling simple words on banners related to a dry run for Covid-19 vaccination.
The flex banners put up by the staff announcing the event misspelt “vaccination” as “vacinaion” and “district” as “dictrict”.
After the mistake was brought to the notice of health authorities, the word “district” was corrected on one of the banners but the other misspelt word was left as it is.
The dry run for the Covid-19 vaccine was held on Friday with about 25 participants. Similar banners were found at Government Primary Health Centre (PHC) Tuckroo, one of them put up at the entrance of the facility.
An official from the department admitted that it was a big embarrassment and said that the banners had come from the chief medical officer’s office.
“People who had been assigned this job were meant to cross-check it before and after printing. Putting them in public places and at programmes held by the authorities has certainly caused embarrassment,” the official said.
Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, a local resident who noticed these mistakes on the banners, told Kashmir Reader that it only shows the lack of seriousness and the incompetence of health authorities.
“It also suggests how they might be writing prescriptions for patients,” he added.
Chief Medical Officer Shopian Dr Ramesh Bhatt told Kashmir Reader that the issue has been sorted out.
“It happened due to the mistake of some employee and we brought the said banners back and corrected the spelling. These things sometimes happen and it’s not a big deal,” he said.
