Congress affiliated President of MC B’la ousted after falling floor test

Baramulla: The youth congress leader and president Municipal Council Baramulla (MCB) Umer Azhar Kakroo has been removed as the president , after he lost the no confidence motion moved against him on Saturday in the office of the MCB.
Executive officer MCB Imtiyaz Ahmad said that a floor test was conducted on Saturday in which 12 councillors participated out of total 19. Among the 12 councillors 11 went against the Kakroo and he lost no confidence motion.
He said that as per results of the test Umer is now not the president of the council. Now it is up to the government who can announce the date for the new elections for the seat. Executive officer said.
Talking to media men on Saturday Umer said that, “There are so many members who are backed by the BJP and other agencies trying to replace him, in this connection a drama was held on Saturday in which they proved that I have no majority but I will prove myself very soon and I do not approve of today’s verdict”. He said.
Umer Azhar Kakroo who is a young congress leader was elected as the president MCB two years ago after he won with the majority of votes, he is said to be the last hope of the congress party in the Baramulla town.
Abid Salam a councillor, said that Umer lost his no confidence motion and he is now ex-president of the council. “I want to say sorry for the people of Baramulla town that we fail to develop the town as per their wishes because there was only politics in the council, however as the Kakroo lost his no confidence motion I assure the people of Baramulla that they will see lot of changes in coming days” Abid said.
Another member of the council Touseef Raina who is likely to be the new president of the council said that, all the councillors are against the Kakroo from long time and today they proved it, he said we ensure that we will do everything for the people of Baramulla as per their wishes. He said Umer did not attend the meeting held on Saturday on his own because he knew he would lose, and he presented a memorandum signed by some members which is totally fake, Raina appealed to the administration and police to launch a FIR against the Kakroo.
Touseef Raina is also a resident of Oldtown, Baramulla and he was elected as a member/councillor of the MC Baramulla last month when he won on the two seats.
A senior official of the district administration Baramulla said that they will talk to their executive officer about the voting and will take further steps, if Umer Kakroo loses, they will not allow him to sit on the chair. He said.
