Kupwara: A porter working with the army in frontier district Kupwara was seriously injured in a landmine blast in Karnah sector on Friday. Official sources said that Showqat Ahmad Chack, 35 son of Ghulam Rasool Chack of Nard Karnah received serious foot injuries when he struck with a landmine near Sid-post along the LOC in the sector.
The injured porter was shifted to nearby hospital where he was shifted to Kupwara and then Srinagar hospital for advance treatment, where he is said to be stable now.
It is not a first incident when porters suffered injuries, earlier a large number of porters, civilians living along the LoC and army men lost their lives in landmine blasts along the line of control in Uri, Karan, Karnah and Guraz sectors of north Kashmir in past.
