SKUAST-K holds online tree talk

SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir organised an online tree talk on lesser-known plant species of North-Western Himalayas with particular reference to Kashmir.
The programme was organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Silviculture and Agroforestry, Faculty of Forestry in collaboration with World Bank-ICAR funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).
Dean, Faculty of Forestry, Professor Tariq Hussain Masoodi, in his inaugural comments, highlighted the importance of tree talks and the role of Faculty of Forestry. He also informed that faculty had already started research activities on wild fruit species and said different wild fruit species are presently grown at Benehama campus.
Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad in his message stressed upon the importance of wild edible plants and need of research activities for conservation and propagation of lesser-known wild fruits of Kashmir Valley.
Director, Planning and Monitoring, SKUAST-K and PI NAHEP, Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai stressed upon the role of the Forestry Faculty for large scale production of wild fruit species.
