SSM college organises awareness programme on curbing traffic hazards

SRINAGAR: The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities in collaboration with Department of Civil Engineering of SSM College of Engineering on Thursday organized a Social Awareness Programme for curbing Traffic hazards for the newly admitted students as a part of its Induction Programme.
Er. Sheikh Adil Deputy Superintendent Traffic Srinagar City and Dr. Mubashir Jan ARTO Baramulla were the guests of honour at the occasion.
Dr. Sajad Hussain Din, Principal of the College in his address welcomed the Guests of Honour and other dignitaries at the occasion. He stated that the Seminar was organized with an endeavor to invite the authorities and experts from the related Departments and to educate create wakefulness among the students and staff of this Institute.
Er. Sheikh Adil, DSP Traffic Srinagar City spoke at the occasion while sharing his experience and vision underlined the urgency for adopting various road safety measures.
Dr. Mubashir Jan, ARTO Baramulla also spoke at the occasion. Since he has done a lot of study and research on road safety his discourse at the occasion was very informative and enlightening.
Er. Peer Muzamil, the faculty of Civil Engineering Department shared his knowledge on road safety with reference to National and State level conferences and seminars he has participated.
To alert the audience regarding effects of road hazards one student, narrated the tragic episode of death of his brother in a road accident which made everybody emotional in the gathering
Er. S.S.A. Rufai, Principal SSM Polytechnic, while presenting vote of thanks, expressed his gratitude to all for their participation at the occasion. In reference to the theme of the topic Er. Rufai stated that change in our attitude and behavior has a great impact on our safer road practices. He appreciated Academic Officer of the College for conceiving, planning and taking lead in efficient and successful conduct of the event. HOD Civil Engineering and her team were also thanked for the collaborative effect. The event was dedicated to Late Fhzal Wani, Mountain Biker student of SSM College who became victim of road hazard recently.
