DC orders enquiry in alleged negligence of woman, children’s death in Uri

BARAMULLA: The deputy commissioner Baramulla Dr Gulam Nabi Itoo on Thursday ordered an enquiry against the alleged negligence of the medical team over the killing of mother and her two daughters due to suffocation from wooden bukhari in their home in Boniyar area of Uri on Saturday night.
In this connection an order was passed by the DC Baramulla which reads that,
“Whereas, one Shamima Begum wife of Abdul Majeed Ganaie of Ladi Boniyar along with her two daughters Tabasum Majeed and Nighat Majeed have died while keeping the firewood Bukhari(Heater) burning during the intervening night of 28/29-11-2020.”
“Whereas,the husband of deceased lady and villagers alleged that they have informed the police and health authorities for necessary help but the staff of the public health centre (PHC) Boniyar showed slackness/negligence with the result the ambulance have reached the spot very late i,e after two hours. Besides, the driver of the ambulance misbehaved with people and used rude language”, the order reads.
“Whereas, matter has been agitated by the people, highlighted in the media/including social media, and, it has become imperative to conduct an enquiry into the matter”, the order remarks.
“Now,therefore, Riyaz Ahmad Malik, SDM Uri shall conduct an enquiry into the matter and ascertain the all aspects which led to the death of three persons and also to enquire whether there was any lapse from the health authorities viz-a-viz allegations against the ambulance driver and availability of medical team for conducting postmortem”, the order reads.
“The enquiry officer shall submit his report to this office within four days”, the order reads.
It has been reported that three people including a mother along with her two daughters were killed due to suffocation of a firewood Bukhari in Lari Boniyar village of Uri in Baramulla district on Saturday night.
