Poacher arrested for killing migratory bird in Pampore Wetland

Pampore: The Pampore Police on Thursday arrested a poacher for killing a migratory bird in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Block officer for Pampore wetlands, Jhon Mohammad told Kashmir Reader that on Thursday morning they were on routine patrolling around Chatlam Wetland when they heard a few gunshots.
“We rushed towards the sound of gunshots and found few persons poaching migratory birds,” he said, adding that they captured the poaching incident in their camera.
He added that a complaint was lodged with police station Pampore who apprehended one person.
“The SHO concerned promised that he would take action against the other two persons,” the Block officer said.
Station House Officer Pampore, Manzoor Ahmad told Kashmir Reader that they received a complaint regarding poaching of migratory birds in Meej Khah Pampore.
“Upon this information Police Station Pampore along with Wildlife authorities arrested one person,Ghulam Haider, a resident of Balhama Panthachowk,” , he said, adding a case FIR number 94/2020 under section 51 wildlife protection Act has been registered against the said person.
He added a e rifle has been recovered from the possession of the arrested person.
“The licence of the weapon is issued in the name of his brother and he has illegally used the rifle,” SHO Pampore said.
