Srinagar: Hassan Khoihami Memorial (HKM) Government Degree College Bandipora conducted an international online Lecture/Webinar entitled “Future of Artificial Intelligence’’ on Monday live from King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia.
The lecture, which ran 2:00 pm till 3:30 pm IST was delivered by Dr Abdul Raouf Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science. Faculty of different colleges, scholars and students from different parts of the world participated in the webinar on ZOOM cloud.
Giving a detailed presentation, Dr Raouf Khan, pointed out that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has wide applications in education, health, transportation, entertainment and has the potential to be a new engine for economic growth. He talked about how AI research is being funded and various courses are being launched in Arab universities and around the world. He gave a timeline of AI and how it can pose a challenge to the humans in the future. The entire session was quite interactive and the participants asked number of important questions.
Earlier the Principal of the college Dr Mohammad Amin Malik while welcoming the guests gave an overview on AI. He said that “AI is already there in our computers, mobile phones and other devices when we are online and it adds intelligence to the products”.
“The voice assistants such as Alexa, Siri, Amazon, use speech recognition software, robots are taking human jobs, Doctors are performing tele-robotic surgeries are all based on AI, ” Prof Malik added.
The program was jointly organized by Prof Parvaz Ahmad Malla of Computer Applications Department, Dr Mubashir Ahmad of Physics Department, Dr Nasrul Islam of Chemistry Department and Dr Shaikhul Ashraf of Botany Department.
The latter, who is also the staff secretary of the college, presented the vote of thanks.
