Cross-border firing in Kupwara creates panic

Baramulla: Panic broke out in Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday as the armies of India and Pakistan again fired guns and mortar shells at each other across the Line of Control (LoC).
Officials said that the Pakistani army violated the ceasefire in Karnah-Tangdar sector to which the Indian army gave a befitting response.
Srinagar-based army spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said that Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC in Tangdar sector on Monday evening by firing mortars and other weapons.
A local resident said that panic gripped the area as both armies exchange firing and shelling.
On Friday, four civilians and five soldiers were killed in cross-border firing and shelling along the LoC in north Kashmir.
