JAMMU: On the auspicious occasion of Diwali festival, the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Jammu, under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary to Government, Industries & Commerce Department, M.K Dwivedi, organized “Diwali Utsav” an exhibition cum sale event of handmade products, here at Handicrafts & Handloom complex, Janipur.
Several artisans, weavers and cooperatives registered with the department participated in the event and installed their stalls.
The event was inaugurated by the Director, Handicrafts & Handloom, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, in presence of Joint Director Handloom, Pardeep Singh Manhas and Deputy Director Planning, Megha Baogia.
Various stalls of Pashmina shawls, lathe-cum-lacquer items, Chikri wood items, tweed jackets, coats, local Jammu embroidery items and modern art items have been displayed in the exhibition cum sale event.
A large number of citizens enthusiastically visited the stalls and showed keen interest in purchasing local handmade and eco-friendly products, being sold at reasonable prices.
Assistant Director Handloom, Sonika Parihar and Assistant Director Handicraft Jammu, Namrita Bhan were also present on the occasion.
