SKUAST-TAJ extends full support to SSTA

SRINAGAR: SKUAST- Teaching Association Jammu (SKUAST-TAJ) extends full support to their sister concern teaching association i.e., SKUAST-K Scientists and Teachers Association (SSTA) that is being targeted by University administration for raising the long pending and genuine issues of teaching fraternity, said President SKUAST-TAJ Dr. Vikas Sharma.
He informed that the demands raised by the SSTA regarding CAS of teachers, rotation of division heads, one man one post, uploading of council decisions on varsity website etc. are very fair and it is the responsibility of the University Administration to address these genuine issues for the welfare of teaching fraternity and overall progress of farm University of Kashmir
“The main aim of any teaching association of varsity is to watch the professional interests, secure satisfactory conditions of work / service of its members along with redressal of the grievances of the members under provisions of Indian Constitution and the Constitution of J&K. The key role of the association is to suggest the University authorities and strive for various measures for the improvement of professional as well as economic status of teachers. Likewise, SSTA Kashmir is working to solve the genuine issues of scientific community and to ensure corruption-free, nepotism-free and favoritism-free environment within the university. But, it is very unfortunate that in order to sidetrack the above mentioned issues being raised by the association, the University Administration has started the process of transferring office bearers of SSTA and other teachers with the malafide intensions,” said Dr Vikas Sharma in a press statement.
President SKUAST-TAJ informed that teaching association of SKUAST-Jammu strongly condemned such anti-scientist / anti-teacher attitude of the administration that is not congenial for the academic activities in the university and demands rescinding of vindictive transfer orders of teachers/scientists, issued in the recent past. He impressed that immediate measures must be taken by the SKUAST-K to solve these genuine issues without further delay by taking SSTA into confidence. Dr. Sharma further appealed Lieutenant Governor of UT of J&K, who happened to be a Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir, to kindly intervene in the matter to ensure transparency in the professional university system.
