SRINAGAR: Muneeb Munaf’s 69 runs knock helped ISlamia College of Science and Commerce to register thumping seven wicket win over Amar Singh College in the finals of inter college cricket rolling trophy played at ICSC ground here on Friday.
Chasing a target of 151 runs ICSC overhauled the set target in last over with one ball to spare.
Naveed with 33 and Imtiyaz with 27 were other prominent scorers for the hosts. For A S College Irfan,Tanvir and Shahid took one wicket each.
Earlier batting first after winning the toss the A S College put a formidable total of 150 runs on the board in their allotted 20 overs.
Ravees with 41 and Riyaz Malik with 36 were the prominent scorers. Host College Danish was the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets, Muneeb and Imtiyaz also bagged two wickets each.
Imtiyaz Bhat of Islamia college was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament and Rayees of A S College was adjudged the best batsman of the tournament. Muneeb Munaf was awarded man of the match for his all-round performance.
Earlier the final match was inaugurated by the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department Tallat Parvaiz. He interacted with the players and insisted them to take part in the games and sports. He informed the small gathering on the occasion that the department is organising the sports festival in coming winter as well and asked the colleges to gear up for the same.
In the end the Director Colleges Prof. M Y Peerzada with Former Director Colleges Prof. Y A Shah, Former Principal Islamia College Prof. M A Khan nd Principals of both the host College gave away the prizes and medals to the winners, Runners up and the officials of the tournament .
The tournament was jointly organised by Islamia College and Amar Singh College involving 32 teams from all prominent colleges of the valley.
